Around the Park

The Queen Elizabeth Country Park is a place where this so much to see, from the stunning views to the plants and wildlife.  Throughout the year this changes with the seasons.  On this page we will try to give you a flavour of what is happening in the park, but the best way to appreciate it would be to visit and have a walk yourself.

Moths are Brown!

A big thank you to Judy Mason for passing these excellent pictures to me of both the Wood Tiger Caterpillar and Moth.  Such a pretty and colourful moth showing that it's not only the Butterfly which is worth looking for.

However just to show that the butterfly can also be beautiful here is a wonderful example of a Small Copper.

Whilst on the walk I was able to get this very close image of a butterfly which enabled us to identify it as an Essex Skipper.

Ranger on Patrol!

The photo below shows one of our Volunteer Rangers trying to get as close as he can to a Roe Deer.

As he gets closer he was able to see two Roe Deer, carefully checking him out to see if he was a threat and when they needed to run.

South Downs Wood Fair

This event was held in July and despite a couple of really wet and windy days before the event (which meant we were setting everything up on the Saturday morning) the weekend proved to be pleasant allowing many people to enjoy this event.

The Volunteers were on hand to help with childrens activities, sell items, give members of the public a picture quiz and promote both the Twinning Project and most importantly the Volunteer Ranger Service.
